SuperPhillip's Favorite VGMs - Back to Business Edition

SuperPhillip is officially back on the job here at SuperPhillip Central. Did you miss me? Don't answer that. Instead let's do something special to commemorate this occasion. Let's take a brief tour of the Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers soundtrack on this fine Monday afternoon. No better way to kick things back off than with Layle and the crew. Let's get to it!

v581. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - Kuule taa unelmain

We're going to do something special these next five VGMs. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers features one of 2009's most underrated soundtracks. Most likely as it was released after Christmas. Regardless, the favorite VGMs are giving the soundtrack due credit. We start off with Kuule taa unelmain, the vocal version of the title theme. Let it relax you to a state of being alarmed by the next VGM on our list.

v582. The Crystal Bearers - Zu Ambush ~ Sky Dive

The first mini-game of the main story campaign has Layle jettisoning down with a giant cannon, blasting at the various Zus that are attacking the airship he's assigned to protect. There's one particular giant Zu that takes multiple shots to wipe out. This song features the main theme of The Crystal Bearers that pops in around halfway through this hyperactive track.

v583. The Crystal Bearers - Catch and Throw

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers' battle theme is none other than Catch and Throw. It's a rockabilly track to get your mojo going and your arms a-throwing. Battles work by grabbing foes and tossing them into objects and other foes, trying to experiment with ways to attack and do damage on enemies. It was really quite fun, and since you were timed, you always wanted to find how to incapacitate a baddie as fast as possible. Fun stuff!

v584. The Crystal Bearers - Neighborhood Tinkerer

Neighborhood Tinkerer is the theme of Cid, a character in the majority of Final Fantasy games. This time around he is the titular tinkerer, helping Layle out at certain points in the game. The critics hammered The Crystal Bearers, but I happened to very much enjoy the game. Then again I'm one of the few reviewers who like the Wii. hehe

v585. The Crystal Bearers - Selkie Guild

There are three existing tribes in the world of the Crystal Bearers. The Selkie are but one of these tribes, and their home base is located on a shipwrecked vessel in a sunny cove. The song for the guild is something with a nice rhythm to it. I particularly dig the strings that play as the bass line. This concludes are special side trip to the sounds of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. Hope you enjoyed the ride!

That does it for this week of favorite VGMs. Hope you enjoyed the ride and will return next week for even more soothing, pulsing, kick-ass music.
