So, when regular commenter on SuperPhillip Central, CM30, contacted me to ask if I'd share a special contest that his site, Gaming Reinvented, is having, I couldn't help but accept.

As written on Gaming Reinvented, this is what the contest is all about:

Do you fancy yourself a video game journalist? Have a game or gaming event you really wish to give your opinion on, but have nowhere to post it? Want to potentially win 200 dollars in video games of your choice?If so, then you’re going to love the new writing contest at Gaming Reinvented. It’s pretty simple really; write a good article, and if it’s better than everyone else’s, you can win up to 200 dollars in video games of your choice. There’s no catch, no fees and nothing to worry about, it’s purely about who can write the best article on Gaming Reinvented.Here’s how it all works:

1. You register on Gaming Reinvented via the forums. This gives you access to the article posting features on the main site.

1. Once you’ve registered, you return to the site and post your article. It can be a standard article, a review, a walkthrough or an interview.

1. The article then gets added to a list of other articles posted by contest entrants.

1. This contest will then end on the 22nd September.

1. Then, each article is scored by a group of judges (once of which is myself). These judges will rate the article based on the following factors:

Announcing Our Newest Affiliates: Planet 3DS and Nintendo Gamer Thoughts!

In the middle of last week I announced that I earned a writing gig at Planet 3DS, a site for Nintendo 3DS news as well as reviews. My job is the latter. The best part is that I don't need to write exclusive reviews for them; I can just use the reviews I post on SuperPhillip Central for them. Regardless, it makes sense that my blog is affiliating with Planet 3DS, does it not? Finally, I forgot to mention Nintendo Gamer Thoughts, another site that SPC linked up with in the past. Announcing Our Newest Affiliates: Game Bullets and The Gay Gamer!

The circle of affiliates and friends for SuperPhillip Central continues to grow exponentially. We have two new friends that have agreed to share links, and they are both sites that you should look into. The first is Game Bullets, a site dedicated to information regarding Game of the Year editions and collections. The latter is The Gay Gamer, a blog founded by Brian Ochalla. Really, the hook isn't so much that he is gay, but rather that he is a competent writer who details his thoughts on gaming on a daily basis. I encourage you to visit and explore both of these sites, and perhaps even subscribe.

Announcing Our Newest Affiliate: Wii U Plaza!

Like a brand-new present for my birthday, I have a new affiliate! It's Wii U Plaza which talks about all the news regarding Nintendo's upcoming tablet-controlled high-definition console as well as information having to do with the 3DS, DS, and current gen Wii. I wonder what will happen if the Wii U gets its rumored name change. I also wonder how easy it is to change the name of a website. We approach the end of the month with a new affiliate, Gamingheap. It is gaming with a teenaged twist where Oli the owner keeps everyone in the loop on his various gaming ventures with reviews as well as progress on his run at getting platinum trophies. I am happy to have Oli's blog as my latest affiliate.

Announcing Our Newest Affiliate: Gamesplosions!

This is almost like a running gag now. No, I don't mean gaining new affiliates, but seeing how many new affiliates get added to my list of friendly sites and how often "Announcing Our Newest Affiliate" posts pop up. Regardless, I'm proud to announce that SuperPhillip Central has a new friend and it is none other than Gamesplosion, a British video game blog. The site is run by a man named Ian who has a snazzy interface, reviews without scores (I think the industry could use this and shy away from Metacritic and Gamerankings), insightful impressions on upcoming games, and much more. I believe the site is just starting out, so I not only loved what I saw from Ian's opening attempt at making something special, I wanted to spread the word on his blog to my readers. Maybe you'll find Gamesplosions to be something special, too.

Announcing Our Newest Affiliate: 8-Bit Girl!

Not to be confused with one of our other affiliates in 8-Bit City, 8-Bit Girl is kept neat and tidy by Kayleigh, an aspiring game journalist. 8-Bit Girl is based in Britain where Kayleigh writes about her impressions about games, underrated gems, reviews, and articles running the gamut, showing off her wide range of tastes when it comes to video games and the industry. If you're looking for a gaming blog with a woman's touch, then 8-Bit Girl seems like the perfect match for you.

Announcing Our Newest Affiliate: Play Nintendo!

SuperPhillip Central continues its mission to grow a healthy, thriving community of blogs with a new affiliate to join its ranks, Play Nintendo. It is a site that is similar to another Nintendo blog *cough* GoNintendo *cough* (one run by a lumberjack wannabe) but without the tripe, sensational headlines, and fanboy arguments. Announcing Our Newest Affiliate: 8-Bit City

SuperPhillip Central's network of friends knows no bounds. It grows and expands like a black hole in the galaxy... except this one won't kill anybody. I digress. Announcing Our Newest Affiliates: Volatile Mode and DaisyFAIL

Another week, another affiliate or two added to SuperPhillip Central's ever-growing list of fun friends and affiliates! This time I am spotlighting two new affiliates, Volatile Mode and DaisyFAIL. Ladies first, so let's start with DaisyFAIL.


DaisyFAIL is a video game centric blog with a female perspective. I didn't think there were any women on the internet. I thought it was a genuine sausage-fest. Regardless, Daisy who runs the site is ultra perky and polite, and she knows her stuff. For instance, what other girl do you know that can ramble on about Mario Kart 7 and know all of the memes regarding Skyrim? That's what I thought. Just don't embarrass yourself because she's a girl and you have zero social etiquette skills, gentlemen.

Volatile Mode

Meanwhile, Volatile Mode is ran by Jeff who occasionally posts in SPC's comment section, but NOT ENOUGH! Ahem. My caps lock key got stuck for a moment there. He doesn't bother with news as that's what IGN, GameSpot, and all of those games journalists who are PR for game companies are there for. He posts thoughtful articles about anything and everything game-related such as the missing element of surprise in gaming and thought-provoking reviews. SPC Mailbag - December 22nd, 2011

Christmas is quickly approaching-- just three days away! I think since Santa Claus is digging deep into his toy sack that I should dig deep into my mailbag to grab three letters (e-mails) that would make for an interesting discussion. I wonder what three they will be... No point dragging this on. Let's read some questions!

Final Fantasy XIII-2 sold the least one week amount of copies in Japan for a mainline Final Fantasy game. Do you think the Final Fantasy brand is dying out? What can Square Enix do to remedy this?

Ooh. A Final Fantasy question! How exotic! The problem with the Final Fantasy series is that the brand has been used way too much in the past five years. I mean, how many spin-offs has the series had lately? We've seen two Dissidia games, multiple Crystal Chronicles titles, and Final Fantasy Type-0, to name a few. Perhaps it's brand fatigue that is causing the series to not sell up to the standard the series was known for.

To fix this Square Enix should clean house. They should release everything they've been working on. If the game is bad, cancel it. No use tarnishing the brand even further with another poor game. Then let the series rest for a little while. The people will note an absence in Final Fantasy titles and want more. This is the way to get people interested in the series again. I mean, when Tales of Xillia outsells Final Fantasy XII-2's first week, you know something is gravely wrong.

How does my site become an affiliate with SuperPhillip Central? What do you personally look for when obtaining new affiliates?

Usually all you have to do is ask me via e-mail to see if I want to affiliate. As for what I look for, I tend to affiliate with like-minded sites who have a fair amount of activity and aren't on an extended hiatus for too long. If your last story was in 2009, there's a good chance that I won't affiliate with you or I will take you off the affiliate list. Affiliates are an important part of site relations. The mutual relationship between sites allows for users of both to check out each other's sites, gain readers, and make new friends among one another's sites. Thus is the circle of life.

Didn't you use to have your stories featured on GoNintendo? What happened to that?

Oh, that's a simple question. I got tired of the owner of the site's need to get hits by using sensationalist headlines, false rumors, among other things. Plus the community is god-awful. I'll leave it at that. (I had something much meaner here earlier.)

A new affiliate has joined the SuperPhillip Central network, Otaku Gaming. The site is run by someone who folks who recently carouse the comments section should know, GamesAndBiz. He posts news and editorials regarding Japanese gaming and much, much more. It's your go-to place for any and all Japanese/Otaku gaming news. I surmise that would be why the site is called what it is!

It's with a smile on my face that I introduce a new affiliate to SuperPhillip Central. It's none other than DigitallyDownloaded.net. This site, as the name suggests, covers mostly digital download software, but they've also extended their reach with articles such as underrated PlayStation 3 games of all things. Additionally, they publish an online magazine every month reviewing the newest DD games available for your hard-earned dollars. On a side note, I've also noticed that some of our former affiliates have ceased updating, so I'll have to take them off the list sometime soon.

I guess NintendoEverything doesn't really need an introduction. I imagine those into Nintendo mostly know about it. As for everyone else, it is a fabulous site to catch-up on your Nintendo news at any time. Daily content, active forums, and a friendly staff make NintendoEverything a fantastic site to get your Nintendo fix on.

Additionally, I was away for most of this weekend in la-la land. You need to get off at Exit 301 and make a left at the traffic light where the Denny's is to reach it apparently. Regardless, two updates have been posted. It's like Christmas but instead of one gift, you all get two!
