If you are a Nintendo 3DS enthusiast, you no doubt know about Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. At least that's what it is called in North America. Our PAL pals know the game as Luigi's Mansion 2, and that game releases today in Europe. This UK ad does a fantastic service in presenting the fun the game possesses. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS) Japanese Commercial
While North Americans like myself know the game to be Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, everyone else in the world, including our friends across the Pacific in Japan, know the game as Luigi's Mansion 2. Nintendo is advertising the game as something spooky for Nintendo 3DS owners to enjoy. Regardless of which country you live in, most everyone will get to play Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon/Luigi's Mansion 2 when it arrives later this month.

March Madness: Ten Games to Look Out for This Month
It is the start of a brand-new month, and it is certainly one packed full of interesting software. Like we did for the first time in February, SuperPhillip Central is naming the greatest games of the upcoming month. Use this gamer's guide to see which ten releases set for this month are worthy of further investigation. Note: These release dates posted are for North American use.
Tomb Raider (Multi)
Release Date: 3/5
A full-fledged reboot of Lara Croft and the series she is known for, Crystal Dynamics's Tomb Raider is the first game in the series to reach the ESRB's M rating. The game is set to show Ms. Croft's earliest exploits and how she grew from an innocent young girl to an unsubmissive woman, ready to destroy any enemy that stands in her way. The game will include an open world setting, filled with side quests and a main campaign that will last a dozen or so hours. The early reviews have this game being a welcomed addition to the Tomb Raider series, and perhaps a welcomed addition to your video game library.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (3DS)

Mercury Steam, Konami, and Nintendo have been giving our next game a lot of time under the spotlight. While it is not the Koji Igarashi directed Metroid-styled Castlevania that 3DS owners were clamoring for, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate is an intriguing title all the same. It features 3D character and enemy models, an in-depth combat and combo system, and takes players under the control of multiple characters. For those who want to play the game now, the Nintendo 3DS eShop has a demo of Mirror of Fate live for you to try out.
MLB 13: The Show (PS3, PSV)

Baseball season is approaching like a 99 mph fastball, and the boys of summer are raring to return to the diamond. If you personally cannot wait for the real deal to begin, then why not try out the next best thing? Sony's MLB: The Show franchise is gaming's best baseball simulator. You cannot get a deeper, richer, more realistic or more accurate simulation than The Show, and this year's game comes overflowing with content. With MLB 13: The Show, if it happens in baseball, you can most likely relive it in the game. Both PlayStation 3 and Vita owners can have a hand (or is it glove?) in this year's game.
God of War: Ascension (PS3)

A prequel to past God of War games, God of War: Ascension promises to showcase a Kratos that is more grounded in his humanity than seen before. If you have played a previous game in the franchise, then Ascension will feel familiar. There's the standard action-adventure combo-based combat, puzzles to solve (whether simple or complex), and quick-time events to enjoy, but there's also one feature that the franchise has never been present, multiplayer. It is the developer's hope that the multiplayer will keep players engaged with God of War: Ascension long after the single-player campaign has been completed. Judging by the looks of things, their hope may soon be realized when the game releases on March 12.
LEGO City Undercover (Wii U)

An oddity in LEGO games, as the title is not tied to a licensed property, LEGO City Undercover is an upcoming Wii U exclusive that brings an open world city to players. Take the role of Chase McCain as he is tasked with finding and taking down the crafty criminal Rex Fury. There's countless things to do in LEGO City, such as side missions, platforming challenges, and new costumes for Chase to try on, each giving him different abilities. Wii U owners have been waiting patiently for anything to play, but that isn't the reason why LEGO City Undercover is of serious interest to them. No, it's simply because LEGO City Undercover seems to be brimming with fun and charm and an engaging open world setting that unlike Grand Theft Auto, is one that everyone can enjoy.

Essentially an expansion to the original Monster Hunter Tri, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS gives players the ability to play on one version of the game and send their character to the other effortlessly. Capcom recently announced that both North American and European players would be able to join up for online monster hunting, something that the original Wii game lacked completely. Additionally, off TV play was announced, so one does not need a television screen to play the game. They can simply use the Wii U GamePad. While the demo does not do a fantastic job of introducing beginning players to the world of Monster Hunter (instead it simply thrusts them into a hunt with no explanation), it is still recommended playing, especially if you cannot wait until the March 19 release date!
Gears of War: Judgment (360)
Release Date: 3/19
Like God of War: Ascension, Gears of War: Judgment is also a prequel and the fourth major game in its respective franchise. The story's focus is on Lieutenant Damon Baird and Private August Cole (a.k.a. The Cole Train) with various new supporting characters being introduced. If you are unfamiliar with the franchise, Gears of War is a third-person cover-based shooter with a heavy emphasis on teamwork. The game's multiplayer will feature two all-new modes: a free-for-all mode and something called OverRun. Look for more information regarding Gears of War: Judgment as its March 19 release date comes closer.

The first title to celebrate the so-called "Year of Luigi," Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is a hotly anticipated game starring everyone's favorite cowardly plumber Luigi. Instead of just one main mansion to explore, there are several with different themes and ghostly guests. Not only is sucking up these ghosts mandatory, but so is solving puzzles within the various environments. For this 3DS sequel, multiplayer for up to four players either locally or online has been included, sporting three unique modes. Dark Moon is seriously shaping up to be a superior game to the 2001 GameCube original. Here's hoping the game is as fun to play as it looks in videos.

Pandora's Tower is the last of the three Operation Rainfall games that fans wanted to see localized in North America. Play as Aeron as you do your best to collect flesh from monsters to feed to Elena. Why, you ask? It's because poor Elena has a curse that will only reverse if she is fed monster flesh. Hey, if all Aeron had to collect was penicillin, then the adventure wouldn't be anywhere near as fun! Each of the thirteen towers that Aeron must climb features its own brand of challenges and shortcuts, and Aeron will need to find these shortcuts as he is always racing against the clock and the speed of Elena's illness. Depending on how well the player does, they will see one of several endings. Pandora's Tower hits the Wii as one of its final big games on March 26.

The final of ten games we'll be talking about for the month of March is one of the biggest games on this list. It's also one that many have been clamoring for for quite a while now. It's BioShock Infinite. The BioShock series has already plundered the ocean depths with a city underwater, so the next logical step is a city above the clouds in the form of Columbia. Using a series of weapons, telekinetic powers, and gear, the main character Booker must find a way to escape the cloud city. He isn't alone, however. In BioShock Infinite, an AI companion known as Elizabeth at times assists in combat. The setting of the game all to itself has me excited for it, and knowing how ambitious Ken Levine and his team have been with the game have myself, among many others, greatly anticipating BioShock Infinite's March 28 release date.

Top Ten Most Anticipated Games of E3 2012
Christmas for gamers, E3 2012, is but a handful of days away. In an industry ecosystem where military shooters are all the rage, my tastes have evolved, grown up, and matured. Be that as snobby-sounding as that may. I feel that these shooters are the real games that are the immature ones (ironic that they are given an ESRB rating of "M for Mature") and not the ones that have color and are meant for everyone (though not to paint all of those with a broad brush). That said, I have ten items that I am most interested in that have been announced already. Of course, E3 is known for the surprises that first and third parties love to unveil either at the show, prior to the show, or shortly after the show. Which of these ten are you also anticipating?
10) The Last of Us (PS3)
I try to block all memories of the award show abortion that was Geoff Keighly's and Spike TV's Video Game Awards. They were absolutely dreadful and a great reminder of why this industry, its figures, and its gamers are constantly the butts of jokes. That said, one fun revelation from the "award show" was The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic third-person action game developed by the fine folks behind the Uncharted series. Naughty Dog knows how to craft exemplary experiences, and from the small batches of footage and screens I've seen, The Last of Us already looks incredibly promising.
9) Luigi's Mansion 2 (3DS)
Possibly a tentative title, Luigi's Mansion 2 was revealed a couple years or so ago. It is being developed by Next Level Games, who by their lonesome haven't created many compelling games, but with Nintendo they have done well for themselves. No doubt with the big N watching over their collective shoulder, Luigi's Mansion 2 will be a must-have 3DS game. The title is sort of a misnomer as there isn't just one mansion of Luigi to explore. Instead, there are several of varying tropes. Will Luigi's Mansion 2 utilize gyro controls or even the Circle Pad Pro? I guess we will find out at E3!
8) Rayman Legends (Wii U and other platforms)
Leaked out while those anticipating the Wii U were temporarily satiated by some real Wii U news, Rayman Legends passes on the beautiful 2D sprites of Rayman Origins for full 3D models. The trailer that seeped out was one meant for in-house employees and gave a general idea of the possibilities of the Wii U and its controller. One could put figurines on the controller's screen and have that character turn up inside the game, or a player could move platforms by placing their finger on the controller screen and sliding it up or down. No doubt there will be more information, possibly at Nintendo's E3 presser on Tuesday.
7) PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS3)
Not exactly the most elegant name for a game, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is without any hesitation modeled after Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. franchise. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so no need to be annoyed by Sony's desire to consistently borrow ideas from the competition. Characters already announced include Kratos, Sly Cooper, Sweet Tooth, and Parappa the Rapper. The stages consist of mash-ups between two or more Sony-themed properties. The Jak and Daxter stage has a cameo by the Hot Shots Golf crew, for instance. While I don't think Battle Royale will sell PS3s or set the world on fire as much as Smash Bros. has, it will be a great title for fighting fans and Sony fans alike.
6) Resident Evil 6 (PS3, 360)
The crew at Capcom have stated in interviews that they plan on returning the Resident Evil series back towards its horror roots. The game is apparently set in the neon-lit streets of a Chinese city where heroes like Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are back. The zombies that infest the many corridors and areas of the game aren't the typical slowly lunging, empty-headed foes of the past. These baddies can use strategy and are fast on their feet. It is currently up in the air whether or not Resident Evil 6 will be reminiscent of pre-RE4 titles, but regardless of that, one's pulse is bound to be pounding as they play.
5) New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
Most gripes from critics of the New Super Mario Bros. series come from the boring art style. While I wouldn't mind a game that looked and animated as well as Wario Land: Shake It! or Yoshi's Island, aren't fun and level design more important? Those latter two qualities is where the New Super Mario Bros. series truly shines. Only four screens have been shown thus far, but they do reveal the return of Raccoon Mario as well as a new gold-coated Mario power-up. Satoru Iwata recently stated at an investors' meeting that New Super Mario Bros. 2 would be available in both retail and digital formats. What is this-- Nintendo actually being in the current millennium? Astronomical!
4) LittleBigPlanet Karting (PS3)
Take everything you love about the world of LittleBigPlanet and place it within the racing genre and you get LittleBigPlanet Karting. Sure, there are your typical grand prix races against a competitive field of adversaries, but there are also boss fights and kart battles to partake in. You can even create your own tracks and objects which definitely resonates the "Play, Create, and Share" mantra the franchise is well known for. I can't wait to take my SuperPhillip Sackboy onto the race track and speed along cardboard roads, swing across gaps, and discover secret shortcuts in intense and thrilling races.
3) Animal Crossing (3DS) [tentative title]
The Animal Crossing characters that you play as have grown a bit taller, now being able to wear pants and more detailed clothing. That isn't really the biggest draw of the game, however. A new and relatively substantial change to the 3DS version of Animal Crossing is the ability to act and serve as your village's mayor. Old Tortimer must have gone into retirement. The choices you make as mayor will no doubt affect the prosperity of your town. How far can your decision-making go? Well, that is currently undetermined, but here's hoping that the curtain on this game rises to reveal some much needed info come this Tuesday.
2) Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS3, 360, 3DS, PSV)
I said in a previous post that Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is my favorite kart racer of this generation, beating out Mario Kart Wii and ModNation Racers, so it makes sense that I am highly anticipating the game's sequel. Transformed shares the idea of Mario Kart 7 of shape-shifting vehicles for when the necessity comes up. Soaring through the air, drifting through corners, and jetting across blue waves are all means of transportation in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. We've already seen locales from Panzer Dragoon and Super Monkey Ball and have gawked at characters like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman, Shadow, and Aiai, and the lineup of tracks and characters is only going to get bigger the closer we get to release.

Seems like an obvious choice for number one. The Wii U is Nintendo's newest console, and it is already getting the patented "doomed" arguments. I personally love it when so-called "gamers" are afraid of a toy like it really affects their livelihoods. Regardless, non-disclosure agreements have put a lid on most leaks except for that poor deluded Traveler's Tales employee who posted that new and improved Wii U controller to his Twitter account. He was fired, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was taken to court over it. Nintendo has a lot to prove this E3. I really couldn't care less if they cater to the whiny, selfish core as long as the company reveals some exciting content, which I'm sure they will. Their future in the console business sort of depends on it.

The Animal Crossing characters that you play as have grown a bit taller, now being able to wear pants and more detailed clothing. That isn't really the biggest draw of the game, however. A new and relatively substantial change to the 3DS version of Animal Crossing is the ability to act and serve as your village's mayor. Old Tortimer must have gone into retirement. The choices you make as mayor will no doubt affect the prosperity of your town. How far can your decision-making go? Well, that is currently undetermined, but here's hoping that the curtain on this game rises to reveal some much needed info come this Tuesday.
2) Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PS3, 360, 3DS, PSV)
I said in a previous post that Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is my favorite kart racer of this generation, beating out Mario Kart Wii and ModNation Racers, so it makes sense that I am highly anticipating the game's sequel. Transformed shares the idea of Mario Kart 7 of shape-shifting vehicles for when the necessity comes up. Soaring through the air, drifting through corners, and jetting across blue waves are all means of transportation in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. We've already seen locales from Panzer Dragoon and Super Monkey Ball and have gawked at characters like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman, Shadow, and Aiai, and the lineup of tracks and characters is only going to get bigger the closer we get to release.
1) The Wii U Lineup
Seems like an obvious choice for number one. The Wii U is Nintendo's newest console, and it is already getting the patented "doomed" arguments. I personally love it when so-called "gamers" are afraid of a toy like it really affects their livelihoods. Regardless, non-disclosure agreements have put a lid on most leaks except for that poor deluded Traveler's Tales employee who posted that new and improved Wii U controller to his Twitter account. He was fired, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was taken to court over it. Nintendo has a lot to prove this E3. I really couldn't care less if they cater to the whiny, selfish core as long as the company reveals some exciting content, which I'm sure they will. Their future in the console business sort of depends on it.
